Durch den Monsun, um die Welt: Auf dem Höhepunkt ihres Erfolgs verließen die „Tokio Hotel“- Zwillinge Bill und Tom (23) Deutschland – und zogen nach Los Angeles. 2 Jahre Funkstille. Jetzt sind sie zurück in ihrer Heimat – als Juroren von „Deutschland sucht den Superstar“! BILD gaben Tom und Bill ihr erstes Interview am Set der Castingshow.
BILD: Heute schon Talente entdeckt?
Bill: „Ja, es waren ein paar gute Leute dabei ...“
Tom: „Aber noch keine Knaller. Heute jedenfalls nicht.“
BILD: Wie kommt ihr mit Dieter Bohlen klar?
Bill: ,,Wir kannten Dieter vorher nicht persönlich, haben uns aber darauf gefreut, mit ihm die Jubiläumsstaffel von ,DSDS‘ zu machen. Wir haben uns auf Anhieb richtig gut verstanden und haben echt viel Spaß.“
BILD: Ihr kennt auch die Schattenseiten des Showbusiness, das hilft sicher beim Casting, oder?
Bill: „Ich habe auch schon Kandidaten gesehen, bei denen ich dachte: Nee, das ist einfach nichts für dich ...“
Tom: „Die, die einfach nur berühmt werden wollen, gehen mir voll auf den Sack. Berühmt werden ist doch nur ein Nebeneffekt, wenn jemand etwas sehr gut kann. Wenn man nichts kann, sollte man auch nicht berühmt werden.“
BILD: Vor zwei Jahren habt ihr Deutschland verlassen. Wie ist euer Leben in Los Angeles?
Bill: „Wir haben jetzt zwei Jahre ganz konsequent versucht, uns zu verstecken. Wir wollten einen Ort, wo wir uns zurückziehen können, um privat zu sein. Wir fühlen uns in L. A. wohl, leben dort zusammen mit unseren vier Hunden.“
BILD: Warum seid ihr regelrecht geflohen?
Tom: „Wir waren einfach fünf Jahre lang nonstop unterwegs und hatten keinerlei Rückzugsort mehr. Wir hatten echt das Gefühl, kein Zuhause mehr zu haben – es war ja irgendwann egal, wo wir schlafen.“
BILD: Ein schlimmes Gefühl ...
Tom: „Ja. Irgendwann kam dann der Punkt, da wurde das ein bisschen viel und dann haben wir uns überlegt: Wo können wir überhaupt noch hingehen? Und vor allem wollten wir auch einen Ort, wo wir endlich wieder kreativ sein können.“
BILD: ... und ein neues Album aufnehmen?
Tom: „Wir haben in L.A. einfach richtig entspannt Musik machen können – das hat uns künstlerisch sehr weitergebracht. Manches davon werden die Leute nie hören, vieles aber schon.
BILD: Gibt es schon ein Datum für ein neues Album?
Tom: „Das ist in Arbeit. Wir lassen uns damit aber Zeit.“
BILD: Wo fühlt ihr euch heute zu Hause?
Bill: „Eigentlich immer da, wo unsere Familie ist. Natürlich sind unsere Wurzeln in Deutschland, da wird immer das Heimatgefühl sein. Aber Tom und ich können uns überall schnell einleben.“
BILD: Bill, du hast dich optisch auch ganz schön verändert, das Skelett-Tattoo auf deiner Hand ist ja krass ...
Bill: „Ich hab ja schon früh damit angefangen! Ich hatte mein erstes Piercing mit 13, mein erstes Tattoo mit 15. Tattoos mochte ich schon immer, in den letzten Jahren konnte ich mir aus Zeitgründen keine stechen lassen. Jetzt designe ich sie zusammen mit einem Tätowierer in L. A.“
BILD: Du hast auch ganz schön Muckis bekommen ...

BILD: Two years ago, you have to leave Germany. How is your life in Los Angeles?
Bill: "We have now tried two years quite consistently, to hide. We wanted a place where we can retreat to private. We feel comfortable in L.A., live together with our four dogs. "
BILD: Why you fled literally?
Tom: "We were just five years on the road non-stop, and had no more retreat. We really had the feeling that they have nowhere to go - it was eventually no matter where we sleep. "
BILD: A terrible feeling ...

BILD: ... and record a new album?
Tom: "We simply can really relaxed in LA making music - that has brought us artistically. Some of this people will never hear, but much already.

BILD: Where do you feel at home today?
Bill: "Actually, always where our family is. Of course, our roots are in Germany, as always will be the feeling of home. But Tom and I can settle us anywhere fast. "
